No.22/4/2010-E.I (B) : The Union Public Service Commission will hold a Limited Compet i t ive Examinat ion f rom 20th of M a y , 2 0 1 2 f o r t h e p u r p o s e o f f i l l i n g vacancies in the Indian Police Service ( I P S ) i n a c c o r d a n c e w i t h t h e R u l e s p u b l i s h e d b y t h e M i n i s t r y o f H o m e A f f a i r s i n t h e G a z e t t e o f I n d i a Extraordinary dated 03 rd March, 2012.
* The number of vacancies to be filled on the result of the examination will be finalized later on in consultation with the Ministry of Home Affairs.
* R e s e r v a t i o n w i l l b e m a d e f o r candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other B a c k w a r d C l a s s e s C a t e g o r i e s i n respect of vacancies as may be fixed by the Government.
* S i n c e I n d i a n P o l i c e S e r v i c e i s e x emp t e d f r om PH r e s e r v a t i o n , n o v a c a n c y w i l l b e a v a i l a b l e f o r recruitment of PH category candidates through this examination. T h e c a n d i d a t e s m u s t i n d i c a t e t h e i r p r e f e r e n c e s f o r c a d r e ( S t a t e / U T ) allocation. In case no preference is given by a candidate for cadre allocation, it will be assumed that he/she does not have s p e c i f i c c a d r e p r e f e r e n c e f o r t h o s e services. Moreover, if a candidate cannot be allocated to any cadre of his/her choice, he/she shal l be al lot ted to any of the r e m a i n i n g c a d r e s i n w h i c h t h e r e a r e vacancies. The decision of government in respect of cadre allocation shall be final.
2. (A) CENTRES OF EXAMINATION: The Examination will be held at the following Centres:
A H M E D A B A D , B A N G A L O R E , C H E N N A I , D E L H I , G U W A H A T I , K O L K A T A A N D NAGPUR.
The centres and the date of holding the examination as mentioned above are liable to be changed at the discretion of the Commission. While every effort will be made to allot the candidates to the centre of their choice for examination, the Commission may, at their discretion allot a different centre to a candidate, w h e n c i r c u m s t a n c e s s o w a r r a n t . Candidates admitted to the examination will be informed of the time table and place or places of examination. T h e c a n d i d a t e s s h o u l d n o t e t h a t n o r e q u e s t f o r c h a n g e o f c e n t r e w i l l b e granted.
(B) PLAN OF EXAMINATION :
T h e I n d i a n P o l i c e S e r v i c e L i m i t e d Competitive Examination will consist of
two successive stages:-
(i) Written Examination;
(ii) I n t e r v i e w f o r P e r s o n a l i t y f o r Personality Test
